NT man arrested for child porn

Tonawanda News — A North Tonawanda man with a history of arrests was arrested by New York State Police Tuesday for possessing child pornography.

The state Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force say the authorities were recently alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a customer had left a number of voicemail messages at a Buffalo-area online chat room service, allegedly expressing his desire to talk about his sexual fantasies involving underage children.

Those calls led to an investigation by the a state police Computer Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Lockport, which drew police to Hollis Stewart, 38, of Main Street, who was also found to have several images of child pornography on his cellphone, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The North Tonawanda resident was arrested and charged with possessing obscene sexual performance by a child, which is a class E-felony.

Stewart, who formerly lived on Keller Avenue in Kenmore and Morgan Street in the City of Tonawanda, has been arrested several times since 2009, with charges ranging from criminal mischief to harassment and assault.

In August 2011 he was taken into custody for pulling out flowers in front of the Bethesda Church and taken to the Erie County Medical Center for a psychological evaluation.

One of the more bizarre incidents tied to Stewart took place in May 2009, when he was charged with burglary, trespassing and disobeying a mandate, after he climbed to the roof of his ex-girlfriend’s home on Delaware Street and crawled into bed between she and her new boyfriend, before attempting to take a cellphone away from both individuals as they tried to call police.

Stewart then jumped out the window, descended from the roof and ran down the street. Police discovered him a short while later hiding under his bed and took him into custody.

Stewart was arraigned on his most recent charges in the Town of Lockport and is being held in Niagara County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He will appear Thursday in North Tonawanda City Court.
