Pizza, pizza

— — Two popular local pizzerias will be opening new locations in the Tonawandas by the end of the year.

Just Pizza announced that it will be inaugurating a site at 151 Division St. in North Tonawanda off of the Twin Cities Memorial Highway, likely before the end of December.

Franco’s Pizza plans for a mid-December opening and will take over the former Santora’s Phase II, a fixture in the City of Tonawanda for decades at 600 Delaware St., which closed its doors in July.

Mark Campanella, vice president of marketing for Just Pizza, said his company will forego its usual menu and offer only pizza and wings.

“They’re the meat and potatoes of the industry,” he said. “We’re looking to simplify future expansion. We know where our customer base is. This is a company-owned location and we’re looking into several other market places with this concept.”

It will be the twelfth location for Just Pizza, which started in 1992.

“Workers are working on the inside right now,” Campanella said. “The outside of the building is painted. Hopefully by the holidays we’ll open.”

Franco Kroese, owner and president of Franco’s Pizza, said his company purchased the building housing the former Santora’s Phase II location in August. Like its predecessor, the company has been around for decades, starting its first location on East Delavan Avenue in the City of Buffalo in 1979.

The Delaware Street property will be the company’s fifth site in the region, Kroese said.

“It’s a complete redo inside and out,” he said. “It’s the same menu as our other locations and we’re looking forward to the City of Tonawanda and our new neighbors.”
