Elmer J. Bereck

BUFFALO — Elmer J. Bereck, age 82, of the City of Tonawanda, Monday, December 16, 2013, at Buffalo General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, he was the husband of Nancy L. (nee Wood) Bereck, who died in 2002; son of the late Elmer E. and Mary Jane Bereck and uncle of the late Michael Buike. Elmer was a graduate of Tonawanda High School and was a US Army   veteran. He was retired from Union Carbide and was also employed by Valu Home Center in Tonawanda for the past 17 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Tonawanda Lodge 247 F & AM.

He is survived by three children, James L. (Bonnie) Bereck of Spring, TX, Linda A. Bereck of Amherst, and David A. Bereck of Tonawanda; five grandchildren, Bradley, Andrew and Connor Bereck, Kurt and Kimberly Edwards; his loving companion, Magdalene Chanady of Ft. Erie,      Niagara Falls; his sister-in-law, Janet Buike of Rochester and two nephews, Mark (Leonarda) Buike of Miami, FL and Matthew (Matthew Sacco) Buike of Rochester.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad St., in Tonawanda, by Rev. Edmund Hoener. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
