Raymond D. Gawrys

NORTH TONAWANDA — Raymond D. Gawrys, age 87, of North Tonawanda, passed away  December 22, 2013. Mr. Gawrys was born May 19, 1926 in North Tonawanda, son of the late Frank and Veronica Gawrys. A lifelong resident of WNY, Mr. Gawrys served his country in the United States Navy   during WWII. He served in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters. He was awarded the Victory, American Theatre, European Theatre and Asiatic Pacific Medals before being honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 26.

Mr. Gawrys is survived by his sons, Donald Gawrys of North Tonawanda and Daniel Gawrys of Austin, TX; a sister, Virginia Feuerbach and a niece, Patty (Jules) Krieger.

Private services are being held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Wattengel Funeral Home
