James W. Swiston

CITY OF TONAWANDA — James W. Swiston, age 64, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012, while under the care of Hospice. Born in North Tonawanda, NY to the late George and Harriett "Mickey" (Horan) Swiston, he had been a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, and was the husband of Deborah (nee Gromada) Swiston, who died in 2000. Mr. Swiston was a US Air Force veteran serving during Vietnam. He had been      employed by Exolon - ESK in Tonawanda for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was also a member of Tonawandas' Post 264 American Legion and had coached for the Tonawanda Football Clinic for 19 years.

He is survived by two children, Chris Swiston and Amy (Doug) Dunn, both of Lockport, NY;  two step-sons, Bill and Dan Stranahan; three grandchildren, Dallas, Trevor and Caitlyn; a brother, John (Donna) Swiston of North Tonawanda; and is also survived by an aunt, uncle,  several step-grandchildren and cousins.

Family will be present on Friday, April 20, from 10 AM-12 Noon at  JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC.,  25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, where a memorial service will be held at Noon following visitation.  Friends are invited. Rev. Robert J. Fink will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospice Foundation of WNY,  225 Como Park Blvd., PO Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240.
