Betty Jane Saltarelli


Betty Jane (nee Trautman) Saltarelli, age 84 of the City of Tonawanda, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at her residence under the care of Hospice. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of George X. Saltarelli, who died in 2002; grandmother of the late Maria Saltarelli; and daughter of the late George and Elsie (nee Schulte) Trautman. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Tonawanda High School and also a graduate of Children's Hospital School of Nursing. She was an active lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Advancement Committee, St. Francis of Assisi Pro-Life Committee and the "Rum-Dums".
She is survived by five children, Mark (Marcia) and Michael (Sue Ann) Saltarelli, both of Tonawanda, Mary (Dennis) Knoerl of Kenmore, Monica Saltarelli and Marie (Michael) Maziarz, both of Tonawanda; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Erin, Michael, Jonathan, Natalie, Matthew, Rachel, Anna, Jesse, Joseph, Mark Thomas, Makayla and Martha; a brother, George (late Myra) Trautman, Jr. of Tonawanda; and a sister-in-law, Jean (late Eugene) Saltarelli of Maryland. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM and on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, her birthday, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 150 Broad St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. The Rev. Michael Uebler, Msgr. Richard Wetter and Rev. Robert Wardenski will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Endowment Fund.
