NIAGARA FALLS —
John J. Kaszubski, age 90, of North Tonawanda, December 14, 2013 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. John was a Kamikaze survivor who served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in WWII. He Received his draft notice in 1943 at age 19 on the day his first child was born. John served 20 years in the Navy plus 10 years in the reserves. John attended U. S. S. Intrepid crew member reunions every 10 years including this past August's 70th reunion in New York City on board the famous ship which is now a museum.
John's first wife (and mother of his four children), Violet (Krzeminski) Kaszubski, died of cancer in 1977. He remarried in 1984 to Valerie (Woloszyn) Kaszubski, who predeceased John by less than a week. Beloved father of Dennis (Lynda) Kaszubski, Carol (James) Ott, David (Beverly) Kaszubski and Daniel (Elizabeth) Kaszubski. Grandfather of nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9:30 AM from Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
