Ernest G. Eichler

NORTH TONAWANDA — Ernest G. Eichler, age 81, of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly, December 17, 2013 in DeGraff  Memorial Hospital. He was a 1950 graduate of  North Tonawanda High School, a U.S. Navy     veteran serving from 1950-1954. He was a volunteer with the Peace Corps and was stationed in Malaysia from 1969-1970. He worked for 38 years for the North Tonawanda Water Department, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Third Warders Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, euchre and woodworking. Ernest was a fixer and builder of everything for everyone and anyone.

Beloved husband of Janet Eichler; dearest    brother of Herb (Norma) Eichler and the late     Charlotte (late Will) Hofert. Father of Stephanie (Barry) Capell, Steven (Sandy) Eichler, Susan (Joseph) Choboy, Gwen Eichler, Scott (Debbie) Neubauer, Kelly (Craig) Raines and Kristen (Pam Vogel) Neubauer. Grandfather of Kristen Choboy, Emily (JR) Fairchild, Austin and Amber Neubauer, Danielle Raines, Kurt Byers and Cameron Raines. Great-grandfather of Joseph Kostyrka, Fiona and Sophia Fairchild; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Saturday from 2-6 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
