NORTH TONAWANDA —
Winifred J. Sherk, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Northgate Health Care Center, under the care of Niagara Hospice.
She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on October 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Percy and Elizabeth (McNamara) Jones.
Mrs. Sherk graduated from LaSalle High School. She moved to North Tonawanda in 1954. Mrs. Sherk was the mayoral secretary in North Tonawanda for Mayor Smith, Mayor Durkee and Mayor Rumbold. She was one of the founding members of the Women's Circle at the First United Methodist Church in North Tonawanda and volunteered with the Red Cross at DeGraff Memorial Hospital for many years. Mrs. Sherk enjoyed crocheting, sewing, walking and riding her bike.
She was the wife of the late Donald Sherk, who died April 5, 1988.
Mrs. Sherk is survived by a daughter, Karen A. (John) Davis of Barker; a granddaughter, Sara (Nicolas) Davis-Medevielle and a great-grandson, Oen Medevielle. She was the aunt of Kathy Christensen, Donald Wesel, Mark Wesel, Beth Wildey, Jane Byam, Robert White, Debi Sherk and Sonya Emmond; many special friends and neighbors, especially Lee and Linda Ruk, Maxine Spring, Marilyn Jones and Hank and Mille Lucas. She was the mother of the late Paul Sherk and sister of the late Norma Wesel-Frost, Elizabeth White and Sr. Mary Paul, OSF.

The family will be present on Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 10:30-11:30 AM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, with the Rev.
