ALEXANDRIA, VA — Patricia M. (nee Tucker) Gilfillan, age 58, passed away on September 3, 2012 in her home in Alexandria, VA, after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Richard Gilfillan; daughter of the late C. Edward and Adrienne (Jerge) Tucker; twin sister of Pamela (Herb) Lederhouse of Ransomville, NY; sister of the late Michelle Tucker; H. Ed Tucker of North Tonawanda, NY; Donald (Deb) Tucker of Burnsville, MN; Renee Tucker; Paula Tucker and Kathryn Cheehan, both of North Tonawanda, NY. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from North Tonawanda High School, attended Rosary Hill College for Art and graduated from Maryland University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. While serving six years in the US Navy, she became an Aviation Electronics Technician and taught airborne radar theory and maintenance. She was employed as an electronics engineer at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC. Pat later started a small art business that included basket weaving, portrait painting, stained glass and jewelry and was a gifted an accomplished artist. She enjoyed gardening and volunteered at the greenhouses of Mount Vernon. She also enjoyed raising several generations of Collies.

A memorial service will be held at Fillmore Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:30 PM. The church is located at the corner of Ransomville Rd. and Youngstown Wilson Rd. in Ransomville, NY. A private interment will be held at Elmlawn Cemetery.
