Anne (nee Catt) Filer, age 76, of Tonawanda, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late W. Jackson and Anne Catt and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 50 years. Anne was a member of the Tonawanda PTA, the Red Hat Society, and had been actively involved in Tonawanda politics. She had worked as a fashion coordinator for Sears, as a lab technician at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and had contributed articles on consumer products to the Tonawanda News.
She is survived by her former husband, Jack C. Filer; three sons, Craig D. Filer, John P. Filer, Sr. and Andrew M. Filer; six grandchildren, Donald, Adam, Samantha, John, Jr., Jeremy and Jeffrey Filer; and three sisters, Karen Catt, Joal C. Miller and Jacqueline (James) Scheifla. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at at 1 PM on Saturday, September 21st at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the Anne Catt Filer Fund at the Community Fund of Greater Buffalo are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., Tonawanda.
