James R. "Beaver" Carney

NORTH TONAWANDA — James R. "Beaver" Carney, age 61, of the City of Tonawanda, Friday, May 31, 2013, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. A   life-long resident of Tonawanda, he was a 1969 graduate of Tonawanda High School and had been employed by the City of Tonawanda Department of Public Works for 28 years, retiring in May of 2013. He loved golfing, camping and fishing. He was the son of the late William R. and Elizabeth (nee Klein) Carney.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pamela (nee Eberle) Carney; four children, Julie Carney of Amherst, Amy Schwartz of Wheatfield, Lori (Richard) Rushok of Ellicottville, and Donald Schwartz of Tonawanda; three grandchildren, Elijah, Bobby and Billy and his buddy, Sam; three brothers, John (Frances) Carney of Tonawanda, William (Paulette) Carney of Sun City, FL, and Donald (Michele) Carney of Tonawanda; his favorite mother-in-law, Vivian Eberle of North Tonawanda and two brothers-in-law, Daniel and Joseph Eberle of North Tonawanda. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday (June 5th) from 2-5 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions are preferred to the SPCA of Erie County, 205 Ensminger Rd., Tonawanda, NY 14150.
