Peter Edward Mulholland, Jr.

MESA, AZ — Peter Edward Mulholland, Jr. passed away on March 11, 2013 in Mesa, AZ. Born in Buffalo, NY to Peter and Margaret (nee Stafford) Mulholland, Peter arrived on September 8, 1948. He graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. He had a successful career with the Internal Revenue Service for 33 years, during which Peter won many national awards. His career with the Treasury Department took him from New York to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Wisconsin. He was past Secretary of the Milwaukee chapter of the IRS       Retirees' Association. Recently, he moved to Arizona to be closer to his family.

Peter and Christine met at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda, NY. The couple      married in 1967, and spent 46 years adoring each other. A true romantic, he was passionate about Christine, showering her with love and adoration. Peter and Christine had three children, Melanie Rose, Jane Marie and Matthew Peter. He was devoted to his family.

Peter was an advocate for animals and the preservation of the environment. He was a       member of the Defenders of Wildlife Animals. He loved to travel throughout the United States. Looking at the world through his camera lens brought him joy, as he was an avid photographer. Loving all types of music, Peter had a particular fondness for Irish music and Indian Flute music. He was a supporter of the arts, including opera companies throughout his life. A life-long student, Peter loved to read and learn about everything. He had the knowledge and means to fix anything.

Peter was a unique, gifted, articulate man who will forever be missed by his family, friends and co-workers. He is survived by his adoring wife, Christine; children, Melanie Rose (William) Rogers, Jane Marie Mulholland and Matthew Peter Mulholland; grandchildren, Colin Jeremiah, Nathaniel Edward and Lydia Jane; brother, Paul Stoyell-Mulholland; sisters, Mary Alice Emminger, Margaret Mulholland and Theresa Mulholland; 11 nieces, eight nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. His parents have preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life honoring Peter will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care, 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85206 (480-830-4222). The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Arizona Humane Society or the National Wildlife Fund, with special emphasis on Wolf Preservation.
