Pastor Gary Michael Guarino, of Lake Rd., Barker, died on December 30, 2012, at home with family and his faithful dog, Grace, entering the arms of his Lord and Savior, following a lengthy illness.
Born on March 7, 1952, he was the son of the late Louis R. and Frances R. Guarino. On May 27, 1998, in Hinsdale, NY, he was married to the former Kathleen M. Miller, who survives.
Pastor Guarino served in the US Marine Corps from August 29, 1969-October 1972, as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Republic of Vietnam. He was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation with ribbon bar and one bronze star, the Vietnamese Service Medal with one bronze star, the National Defense Service Medal, along with other medals and commendations for his honorable service.
He received a bachelor's degree in ministry and preached at the Transport for Christ at Pembroke truck stop, and attended Victory Christian Church.
He belonged to the North American Fishing Club, the American Legion and the D.A.V. Roll of Honor Chapter No. 120. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was greatly gifted in the arts. He had a special love and talent for painting.
Surviving, besides his wife, are children, Tammy Kiblin, Pam, Matthew and Melissa Guarino. Predeceased by his son, Jason Guarino. His step- children include Jeremy Broecker, Jodie and husband, Rob Taylor, Jonathan and wife, Sarah Broecker, Jean Guarino, Joelle Richter, as well as 12 grandchildren; his brother, Gregory J. and wife, Sue Guarino; and godchild, Amy (Guarino) Parmentier.
Friends and family may call Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 2 PM at Victory Christian Church, 6886 S. Transit Rd., Lockport, NY 14094. The Rev. Ronald Friedersdorf and Pastor Kevin Cole will be officiating.
