CITY OF TONAWANDA —
Dorothy M. (nee Howard) Gendron, age 81, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Northgate Manor Health Care Facility, while under the care of Hospice. Born in Buffalo, NY to the late Edward and Margaret (McDonell) Howard, she had been a resident of the City of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life. She was the wife of John T. "Jack" Gendron, Sr., who died in March of 2012; mother of the late Thomas Edward Gendron; and sister of the late Mary "Sally" Conciardo. Dorothy loved to read, and also enjoyed gardening, baking, camping, and spending time with her family. She was especially proud of her grandson, Rickie Davis, Jr., who is currently Mayor of the City of Tonawanda.
She is survived by five children, John T. (Jean) Gendron, Jr. of the Town of Wheatfield, Deborah (Rick) Davis, and Donna Gendron, both of the City of Tonawanda, Diane (John) Tyszka of Connecticut and David (Kathleen) Gendron of North Tonawanda, NY; a brother, Edward Howard, Jr. of Florida; her beloved dog, Benji; and is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 22nd from 1-4 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (Between Morgan & Broad Sts.) City of Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM following the visitation. Rev. Kenneth D. Wood will officiate. Flowers gratefully declined.
