NIAGARA FALLS —
Brian Arthur McGrath, age 53, of Niagara Falls and formerly of North Tonawanda, passed away, suddenly, on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his place of employment, Wrobel Towers, where he enjoyed looking out for the safety of "all his friends."
Brian attended St. Mark Lutheran School and North Tonawanda Senior High School, graduating in 1978. Brian received a real estate license in 1990 from Erie Community College, and in 2010 he received his N.Y.S. Security Guard Certificate through Morris Protective Service, Buffalo. Brian spent many years being the "best taxi driver and dispatcher" he could be for North Town Taxi and Liberty Transportation, then turning in his taxi keys for his life as a security guard. Brian was a true sports fan, from rooting on his baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, to his devotion of true blue Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan. He was an avid bowler winning various tournaments, some with his son, Andrew.
Brian was the son of the late John and Evelyn McGrath. He is survived by his sister, Denise McGrath Minion; he is survived by his first wife, Denise Gregoire-Grabowski and their children, Danielle Christine McGrath and Andrew Christopher McGrath; he was a widower in his marriage to Rose Marie (Rydberg) McGrath; he was the step-father of Eileen Rydberg and Katherine Rydberg. Uncle of Brenda Prince and her children, Alyssa Storch, Garrett and Ashleigh Prince. He was a loving grandfather to Nevaeh Weitzel and is survived by a special friend, Janice Fetty.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
