Samuel Matikosh, Jr.

CITY OF TONAWANDA — Samuel Matikosh, Jr., age 72, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his residence, while under the care of Hospice. Born in North Tonawanda, NY to the late Samuel and Leaota (Olka) Matikosh, he was a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, and was the father of the late Michael Matikosh; and brother of the late Phyllis Matikosh and Shirley Brick. Mr. Matikosh had been employed by Durez Plastics in North Tonawanda for over 27 years. He had many hobbies and always liked to help out wherever there was a need.  

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy A. (nee Brokenshire) Matikosh; six children, Patricia Matikosh of North Tonawanda, Susan Matikosh of Kenmore, NY, Aimee (David) Mezydlo of the Town of Tonawanda, Tammy (Michael) McCrossan of North Tonawanda, John Matikosh of the Town of Tonawanda, and Karen (Richard) Conklin of the City of Tonawanda; seven grandchildren, Cheyenne, Raymond, Mason, Michael, Matthew, Elizabeth and Amelia; two sisters, Jackie (Walter) Diermyer and Barbara (late Robert) Snider, both of North Tonawanda; one brother, William Matikosh of Tonawanda; and a brother-in-law, Robert (late Shirley) Brick of Grand Island, NY; also survived by many nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.

Family will be present on Wednesday from 3-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 10 AM.  Rev. Chad Reiselman will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst, NY. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the SPCA, 205 Ensminger Rd., Tonawanda, NY 14150.
