EMPORIUM, PA —
Robert J. "Jim" Winston, 80, of 55 Driftwood Ave., Driftwood, PA, died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Saturday (February 8, 2014) morning.
He was born May 12, 1933 in Hanover, PA, a son of the late Hubert and Ruth Roberts Winston. On June 18, 1955 in Enola, PA, he married Izola "Terry" McIsaac Winston, who survives.
Mr. Winston graduated from Pembroke High School and attended Niagara County Community College and the University of Buffalo. He served with the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Durez Plastics in North Tonawanda, NY, where he was a supervisor for many years.
Mr. Winston had served many years as secretary/treasurer of the Buffalo Welsh Society. Years ago Jim was a member of the Elks, Moose and the American Legion. He was a member of the Sinnamahoning United Methodist Church and the Driftwood Lodge #532 F. and A. M.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Izola "Terry" McIsaac Winston is son, Hubert "Hew" Winston and his wife, Julie, Westmount, IL; son, Stephen G. Winston, Buffalo, NY; longtime friend, Paul Marin and his wife, Mary, Ontario, Canada; eight grandchildren, Robert, David, Dylan, Amelia, Rebecca, Sarah, Faith and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Owyn and Scarlet; brother, George Winston and his wife, Carol, Mechanicsburg, PA; sister-in-law, Barbara Winston, Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by parents, Hubert and Ruth Roberts Winston; son, David Winston; brother, Hubert William Winston.
Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Monday from 4-6 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church, Route 120, Sinnemahoning, PA on Tuesday (February 11, 2014) at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Lola Turnbull, Pastor of the Sinnamahoning United Methodist Church, officiating. Military service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial will be in the Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA. BARNETT FUNERAL HOME, Inc. entrusted with arrangements.
