Robert M. Schweitzer

TONAWANDA —

Robert M. Schweitzer, age 70, of Tonawanda, died on Tuesday, January 28,2014, at Niagara Hospice House, after a brief illness.  Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Merton and Grace (nee Wagner) Schweitzer and had been a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. An Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he then served 35 years in the Army Reserves, and was the Civilian Unit Administrator for the 277th Quartermaster Company in Niagara Falls before retiring. He was a member of the American Philatelist Society, a member at large of the NY Department of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Niagara County Historical Society, and a 50-year member of the Historical Society of the Tonawandas.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Janet (William) Bearfield; a dear niece, Nicole L. Walsh; and a great-niece, Alyssa J. Walsh.  Also surviving are several cousins.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Thursday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday. Interment at Elmlawn Cemetery. If desired, memorials to the Historical Society of the Tonawandas are preferred by the family.
