Alex "Boots" Samanka

NORTH TONAWANDA — Alex "Boots" Samanka, July 9, 2014, of North Tonawanda, age 96. Mr. Samanka was a U.S. Army veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor, a retired 37-year employee of Durez Chemical, a life-member of Tonawanda Post #264 American Legion, and a member of Gratwick Volunteer Hose Company for more than 50 years.

Beloved husband of 69 years of Thressa "Tillie" (Angelo) Samanka; dear father of Patricia (Thomas) Dick, Denise (Randy) Scott, Mark (Ingrid) and the late Richard Samanka; grandfather of eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; brother of Helen and Leo. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda on Monday at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675; or a charity of your choice.
