Edward J. Schweichler, Jr.

NORTH TONAWANDA — Edward J. (Ed) Schweichler, Jr., age 88, of Lockport, passed away on May 27, 2014, under the loving care of the staff of Northgate Manor and Niagara Hospice at North Tonawanda.

Ed was born May 28, 1925 in North Tonawanda, NY to Edward and Marianne Schweichler. He graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1943, whereupon he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. A veteran of World War II, Ed was a hospital corpsman who participated in the invasion of Normandy and various campaigns with the Seabees in the Philippines. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy and returning to North Tonawanda, Ed worked many years in the construction industry as a member of the bricklayer's union.

Ed is survived by his three sons, John Schweichler and his wife, Jody, of Odessa, FL, Jeffrey Schweichler and his wife, Yvette, of San Diego, CA, and Eric Schweichler of Montreal, Canada; four grandchildren, Timothy, Steven, Henry and Jeffrey; his sister, Barbara Budwey of Medfield, MA, and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Schweichler (Halter) in 1971; and his wife, Sarah J. Schweichler (Watt), who died in 2007.
