Frank L. Schlegl, age 78, of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly, November 15, 2012 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Frank was born in Chicago, IL. His parents were the late Sylvester and Violet Schlegl. He was a graduate of Concordia College, Seward, NB. Frank was an elementary Lutheran School teacher for 41 years and taught at St. Matthew Lutheran School in North Tonawanda for 15 years. He also served as a church organist and choir director, having played the organ for over 50 years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved to read and watch movie westerns.
Beloved husband of Mary (nee Fritz) Schlegl for over 50 years. Dear father of Jonathan (Lydia) Schlegl of Desloge, MO, Eileen (John) Quigley of Cummings, GA, Timothy (Crystal) Schlegl of Fenton, MO and Paul (Stacey) Schlegl of Wildwood, MO. Grandfather of Cory (Sarah), Kaitlyn, Andrew, Cameron, Abigail, Isabella, and Lilian. Brother of William (Eleanor) Schlegl of Quincy, IL. Uncle of William (Mary Kay) Schlegl, Jr. and Kristi (Paul) Hosea.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from St. John Lutheran Church, Ward Rd. at Niagara Falls Blvd., in Wheatfield, the Rev. Ronald Oravec will officiate. Interment in White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran School.
