Effie M. Hettman

CITY OF TONAWANDA —

Effie M. (nee Toni) Hettman, age 79, of the City of Tonawanda, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her residence, under the care of Hospice. A resident of Tonawanda for more than 65 years, she was the wife of John L. "Doc" Hettman, who died in 2002; and was the mother of her late infant son, Christopher Hettman. A 1952 graduate of Tonawanda High School, she was an avid bowler in the Tonawandas' for many years. Effie owned and operated Hettman Real Estate on Roosevelt Street in Tonawanda for 23 years, retiring in 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Dennis) McGinn of Grand Island and Darlene (Michael) Deemer of Tonawanda; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark) Price, Jon McGinn, Andrea (Michael) Boughton and Andrew (Kelley) Deemer; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sydney, Zachary, Devon, Wyatt and Emma; and her sister, Reta (Michael) Shannon of Lockport. Also several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 18th from 11 AM - 1 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday following the visitation. The Rev. Michael Uebler will officiate. A private entombment
will be in St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
