Betty K. Lambert, age 83, passed away in Gainesville, FL on March 28, 2013. Betty was born on May 2, 1929 in Tonawanda, NY to Raymond and Lena Meyers Knapp. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education of handicapped children and a Master's Degree as a speech therapist. Betty had a sincere interest in horses from her childhood, favoring Arabians and showing them at horse shows. She also enjoyed ice skating and cross country skiing. She had an aviation pilot's license. Betty was the Past President of the Association for Retarded Citizens of Alachua County and a member of First Christian Church of Gainesville.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Reginald Lambert; three sons, Rob Lambert of Chantilly, VA, Geoffrey R. Lambert of Gowanda, NY and James D. Lambert of Springfield, PA; and one granddaughter, Emily C. Lambert.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church of Gainesville, 3411 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville with Pastor Dan Wester officiating. Private entombment will follow. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 PM at WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Association for Retarded Citizen's of Alachua County, 3303 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32606.
