CITY OF TONAWANDA —
Fannie A. (nee Rose) Herbert, age 98, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Born in Newark Valley, NY, to the late Antonio and Mary Louise (Picciano) Pietrosimone, she had been a resident of the City of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life. She was the wife of Frederick W. Herbert, who died in 1990; mother of Carole (late Frank) Lautner, who died in 2007; and sister of the late Mary Jordan. Fannie ran a cleaning service for many years in Tonawanda and also for many years cleaned the Niagara Hose Co. She was an active luncheon volunteer at the Salvation Army Tonawanda Corps, and was a member of the Salvation Army Golden Agers.
She is survived by three children, Jacqueline K. Herbert of the City of Tonawanda, Frederick W. Herbert of North Carolina, and Susan L. (Eugene) Herbert-Salce of Pinehurst, TX; four grandchildren, Jason Herbert, Erik (Diana) Herbert, Luke Salce, and Brie-Anna Salce; one great-grandson, Caleb Herbert; a sister, Evelyn Downs of Newark Valley, NY; one brother, Dominic (Marion) Pietrosimone; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Family will be present on Thursday, January 3rd from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Salvation Army, 46 Broad St., City of Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM following the visitation. Friends invited. Major Celestin Nkounkou will officiate. Private burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Tonawanda Corps.
