Elvin J. Ecelbarger, age 78, of North Tonawanda, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Buffalo General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Foxburg, PA, Elvin was a 1952 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and a 1958 graduate of Penn State University. After a lengthy career at Bell Aerospace and Union Carbide, he retired in 1994. He was very involved with Little League baseball and was an auto racing aficionado. He was interested in diverse topics ranging from Computer Technology to American History. He was a devoted family man and most proud of his wife, children and grandchildren.
Beloved husband of 55 years of Janet (Bianco) Ecelbarger; caring father of Craig (Fran) Ecelbarger and Kurt Ecelbarger, both of Fort Myers, FL, Gary (Carolyn) Ecelbarger of Annandale, VA, Jon Ecelbarger of North Tonawanda, and Karla (Michael) Cammarata of Williamsville; loving grandfather of Kevin, Ryan, Justin, Daniel, Matthew, Amber and Kyle Ecelbarger, and Zak, Caleb and Olivia Cammarata; brother-in-law of Joyce and Peter Betts and Willard Croyle. Also survived by five nieces and several cousins.
Friends may gather with the family at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Sunday from 2-6 PM. A memorial service with begin at 6 PM. The Rev. Kenneth O. Comer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of WNY.
