TAMPA, FL —
Jean (nee Sherman) Thomas, age 90, of Tampa, FL, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013. A private memorial service will be held at a later date, at which time her ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico as she requested.
Mrs. Thomas served her country as an aviatrix in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. Throughout her life, she was active in sports and taught both swimming and tennis. She worked in the medical records department at Tampa Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1991. She was in the 1941 graduating class of North Tonawanda High School.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond R. (Sherry) Stephenson of Bothell, WA and Bruce E. (Christina) Stephenson of Marietta, GA; and daughter, Gayle Stephenson of Palm Harbor, FL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Judy) Sherman of Grand Junction, CO and sister, Dorothy Winfield of Arvada, CO. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Jean Kologi; and sons, David Michael Stephenson and Jeremy M. Stephenson, all of Florida.
