Richard F. Nicosia, age 79, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at his residence, after a long illness. Born and raised in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Mary (nee Daloisa) Nicosia. An Army veteran, Richard was employed at Columbus McKinnon for 27 years until retiring in 1996. He was the brother of the late Jeanette Holst, Carl Nicosia, MD, and Nicholas Nicosia, DDS.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (nee Morris) Nicosia; five children, Ann Marie (Thomas) Zack, Joseph (Cheryl) Nicosia, Frances Gregory, Roger (Kristina) Nicosia, and Norma Nicosia; seven grandchildren, Ronald Gruka, Thomas and Catherine Zack, and Matthew, Rebecca, Richard and Andrew Nicosia; a sister, Phyllis Monfuletho; and two brothers, Russell (Shirley) Nicosia and Emanuel (Jean) Nicosia. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-7 PM on Sunday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday at St. Timothy R.C. Church, 565 East Park Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Buffalo are preferred.
