John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Victoria; four children, Barbara Fontana, John J. Cerra, Lauren Cerra, and Pamela (Mark) Daigler; a sister, Josephine DeLuca, (Los Gatos CA); sister-in-law, Nida (Dominic) Schiavone; six grandchildren, Larry, Victoria, Sara (Alex), John, Nick, and Emily; one great-grandchild, Matthew; and several loving nieces and nephews.
John was a WWII Army Air Force veteran and served in Duxford, England for three years. He was a supervisor with Bell Aerospace. As an entrepreneur, John founded the original Niagara Gear Corporation and Involute Gear Tools. John was devoted to his family. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf, and loved playing the saxophone. He performed with the WW II Army Thunderbolt Band, the Kentones, was a member of the Player's Club and the Renaissance Club.
Family will receive friends at Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda on Monday, November 11th from 7-9 PM and on Tuesday, November 12th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 13th at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Weinberg Hospice. Entombment with Military Honors, Ascension Mausoleum in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
