Michael T. Decker, of Horton Rd., Bliss, died on Saturday April 12, 2014 in Buffalo General Hospital at the age of 48. He was born on November 14, 1965 in North Tonawanda, a son of the late Raymond C. Decker and Ronalda (nee Bialik) Dray.
He was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School and Niagara Community College. He was a surgical technician at South Buffalo Mercy Hospital and had previously worked at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia and Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He also had been a paramedic with Medic-80 in Warsaw. He was a member of the Eagle Hose Co. (Bliss Fire Department) and American Legion Post #1720 in Bliss. He was a fan of the Buffalo Sabres, enjoyed hunting, was a great family man, good friend and due to his ability to talk to anyone and everyone was known as a "Chatty-Cathy".
He is survived by his wife, Darla (nee Dawson) Decker, whom he married on June 3, 2000 in Bliss; a daughter, Nicole (John Critharis) Decker of Buffalo; a son, Jeremy Decker of Gasport; his step-mother, Marlene Decker of North Tonawanda; his mother and step-father, Ronalda and Tom Dray of Tonawanda; a sister, Dawn (Dave) Sowell of Tennessee; two step-sisters, Sandra (Tom) Parris of Lockport and Dawn (Tom) Heigl-MacKay of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Decker, who passed away on February 28, 2013.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2-7 PM at W. S. Davis Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Main St., Arcade, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM. There are no calling hours or services on Good Friday. Burial will be in Lyonsburg Cemetery, Bliss. Memorials may be made to the Eagle Hose Co. (Bliss Fire Department), Pearl St., Bliss 14024 or any SPCA chapter.
