CITY OF TONAWANDA —
Douglas J. Garrity, age 81, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Born in Buffalo, NY to the late John and Sally (Sasiela) Garrity, he was the husband of Clara C. (nee Osowski) Garrity who died in 2007; and was the brother of the late Ronald Garrity. Mr. Garrity was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed by National Grinding Wheel in North Tonawanda for over 35 years. Doug was a volunteer for over 60 years for Union Hook & Ladder Co. # 1 in the City of Tonawanda. He was a musician in the National Hose Fire Co. Drum & Bugle Corps and the Getzville Suburban Knights Drum Corps. Doug was also a member of the Unknown Social Club and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by four children, Michael D. (Doreen) Garrity of Pearland, TX, Patricia Ann (Richard) Parish of Jefferson Hills, PA, Patrick W. (Diane) Garrity and Mark J. (Elaine) Garrity, both of Tonawanda; five grandchildren, Timothy (Brooke), Laura, Douglas, Gretchen, and Christine; two great-grandchildren, Abbey Drew and Kinsley; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family will be present on Wednesday from 4-9 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (Between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 10:30 AM. Friends invited. Deacon Michael Garrity will officiate. Entombment will be in Ascension Mausoleum in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
