Jean E. Cowles

NORTH TONAWANDA —

Jean E. (nee Wilson) Cowles, age 83, of North Tonawanda, June 23, 2013 at her home after a brief illness. Jean was a school teacher, teaching in Hamilton, NY, and then teaching 5th grade at the Roy B. Kelly Elementary School in Lockport, she retired in 1984 after 35 years of teaching. She was a member of North Presbyterian Church and the Parish Cousins Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Warner. She was a member of the North Tonawanda Library Book Club and was an avid reader, she also enjoyed knitting and embroidering. She was the daughter of the late John and Marybelle (nee Cary) Wilson.
Beloved wife of Warner Cowles for 45 years; dear sister of John Cary (Helen) Wilson of North Tonawanda; aunt of John Duncan (Christine) Wilson, Robb Gordon (Kim) Wilson, Anne Cameron Smith-Wilson, David Cary (Wan-Qing) Wilson, nine great-nieces and nephews and several Cowles family nieces and nephews.
No prior visitation. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 1 PM from North Presbyterian Church, 168 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda. The Rev. Stuart Buisch will officiate. If so desired memorials may be made to North Presbyterian Church, Hospice Buffalo, or the North Tonawanda Public Library.
