James J. "Jim" Chiodo

NORTH TONAWANDA — James J. "Jim" Chiodo, age 81, a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, April 25, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Chiodo was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had worked as a machinist for Columbus McKinnon and Jensen Fittings. He had enjoyed writing poetry, woodworking and gardening, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the American Legion in Ellicottville, NY.

Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Thompson) Chiodo for over 58 years. Dear father of Mary Kim Chiodo-Berry, Janet (Roger) Wilhelm, David (Marianne) Chiodo and Andrea J. Chiodo-Smith. Grandfather of Ashley Chiodo, Robert Wilhelm, Madeline Smith and Vincent Chiodo. Cousin of Giovanna Cantafio. Uncle of Roseanne Nero. Also survived by his favorite sister-in-law, Sheila Thompson; and dear friend, Roy Wilhelm.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 8 PM. The Rev. Steven Naylor will officiate. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
