James F. Reece

TONAWANDA — James F. Reece, age 73, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Suncoast Hospice in Florida, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Glen and Dorothy (nee Masterson) Reece and had been a resident of Clarence and Alden before moving to Tonawanda. A 1956 graduate of Clarence High School, he earned an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Erie County Community College. Mr. Reece served as Chief for the Alden Fire Department in the 1980s and was an accomplished coppersmith. He was the proprietor of the Glencroft Copper Shop in Clarence, which continues in business in Tonawanda today. He was the brother of the late John "Jack" Reece.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Matteson) Reece; his son, William (Christina) Reece; his daughter, Nancy L. Haas; three granddaughters, Amanda C. Reece, Madeline M. Haas and Mollie K. Haas; and his nephew, Scott Reece.

There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Parish in Tonawanda in the spring at a time to be announced. If desired, memorials to the Frontier Police Club in       Tonawanda are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., Tonawanda.
