NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR — Alton G. Gardner, 84, of North Little Rock, AR, died from cancer on September 1, 2013. He was born November 28, 1928 in North Tonawanda, NY, in which area he lived until his move to Arkansas in 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Anne; son-in-law, Philip Principe and three grandchildren, all of North Little Rock, AR; as well as his son, Alan Gardner of Stamford, CT.

He retired from the North Tonawanda school system June 30, 1988, after teaching seven years and serving 30 years as an elementary school principal at Wurlitzer and then Drake schools.    After retiring, he spent 14 years as a supervisor of student teachers in the education department at Niagara University.

His remains will be interred in July 2014 in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda. The Gardner family would appreciate friends sharing memories or thoughts at ALLGAARD12@aol.com.
