Renalda Gane


Renalda Gane (nee Straccamore) "Rena", age 96, on Friday (March 21, 2014) at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Rena was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and Ascension R.C. Church.  Born in Ithaca, NY, she studied in Rome, Italy and came back to North Tonawanda where she resided for the rest of her life. As a concert pianist, Rena performed locally at the Riviera Theater. She was an artist, a linguist of five languages, a great cook and devoted to her faith and family. Rena was always willing to write and transcribe letters for Italian immigrants.
Daughter of the late Giulio and Argia Straccamore. Beloved wife of the late Francis P. Gane. Sister of the late Dr. Umberto Maria Luisa Straccamore, Orlando (Ann) Straccamore. Sister-in-law of the late Guy (Jenny) Gane.
Loving mother of Barbara (Vito) Cristiano, Frances (William) Prescott, Dr. Janet Gane, and Julie (Joseph) Cosimano. Proud grandmother of Nicole (Lorenzo) Altadonna, Shaun (Sarah) Breen, Barbara M. Cristiano, Reanna (Brett) Richner, Vittoria Cristiano, Olivia Gane and Julianna Cosimano. Great-grandmother of Adriano and Sienna Altadonna, Madelyn, Zachery and Kaitlyn Breen and Ryan Richner. Sister of Gloria (the late Larry) Ienco and Armand (Rosemarie) Straccamore. Sister-in-law of Steve (the late Vivian) Gane. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends received by the family on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home, (692-3841), 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. Morning prayers will be said on Thursday morning at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Epiphany Chapel Mausoleum. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice House, Niagara County.
