WILLIAMSVILLE —

Dorothy A. (nee Doebler) Helf, age 80, of Williamsville, NY, Wednesday, October 16, 2013, after a long illness. Born and raised in the City of Tonawanda, she was the wife of Roy M. "Bus" Helf, Jr., who died in 2006; and was the daughter of the late Martin C. and Anna (nee Stegmeier) Doebler. A 1951 graduate of Tonawanda High School, Dorothy was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Buffalo Launch Club.
She is survived by two children, Linda A. (Steven) Levine of Rhinebeck, NY and Randy M. (Lisa) Helf of Grand Island; seven grandchildren, Stacey and Matthew Helf, Sam, Eddy, Grace, Suzanne and Glenn Levine; a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Levine; a sister Ann Thorpe of Tonawanda; a brother, Robert (Helen) Doebler of Clarence; and her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Warner of Tonawanda. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday from 4-8 PM at John O. Roth Funera1 Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. The Rev. Edmund Hoener will officiate. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, serving Upstate New York.
