Donald W. "Frankie Don" Fronczak, of North Tonawanda, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the age of 85, after a brief illness. He was born in North Tonawanda, the son of the late Louis and Catherine (Raduszewska) Fronczak. Donald was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School where he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame for an outstanding basketball career. He was a US Army veteran, proudly serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Stephen Sikora Post 1322 American Legion and the Elk's Club. He was employed as an engineer at Strippit of Akron, NY, Remington Rand, D and J Press and Buffalo Pumps, all of North Tonawanda and was the former owner of the Village Inn Bar and Restaurant on Oliver St. Don was an avid golfer and pool player. Don also had an insatiable love of singing, in particular, Frank Sinatra songs where he entertained at DeGraff Memorial Hospital and the Canal Fest for many years.
Husband of the late Emily (nee Urbaniak) Fronczak; dearest father of David J. (Rosemary Garvey) Fronczak of North Tonawanda and the late Darryl Fronczak; grandfather of Jeremy John Fronczak; brother of Louis (Irene) Fronczak of North Tonawanda and the late Adrian (Marjorie) Fronczak of North Carolina. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to greet relatives and friends on THURSDAY, November 7th from 4-8 PM at the SABER FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271) where prayers will be offered on Friday at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church at 9:30 AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Sikora Post will have services on THURSDAY at 5 PM.
