Margaret E. A. Vorpahl

NEWFANE — Margaret E. A. Vorpahl (nee Thiemecke) died peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2013, in         Newfane Hospital. She was 91 years old. Margaret was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Her father, the Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke was the Pastor when she was growing up. When Margaret was younger, she was an excellent bowler with many awards. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Meyer; her favorite son-in-law, Douglas Meyer and her brother, Robert Thiemecke of Chicago, IL. She was predeceased by her husband, Levant H. Vorpahl in 1968; and just recently, her older brother, Walter Thiemecke. In addition to friends, Margaret is survived by several nieces and nephews whom she was very fond of.

Friends and family may call at Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Wednesday from 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM, the Rev. Karl Koch will officiate. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Margaret's name to St. John Lutheran Church.
