Frances D. Hartel

CITY OF TONAWANDA — Frances D. (nee Enzinna) Hartel, age 84, of the City of Tonawanda, Sunday, October 7, 2012, under the care of Buffalo Hospice. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of Thomas J. Hartel, who died in 1979; and was the daughter of the late Samuel F. and Lena E. (nee Dreier) Enzinna. A 1946 graduate of Tonawanda High School, Frances was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ, a member of the Salem League, Christian Women's United and served on the Board of Programs for Salem Church. She was an employee of Universal McKinley and was an Administrative Assistant to the Volunteer Department of DeGraff Memorial Hospital for 10 years, and also a volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital for 22 years. Frances was also a member of the YWCA Board and         enjoyed their many programs.

She is survived by three children, Kathleen (Jack) Gallagher of Tonawanda; Harold (Beth)    Hartel of Yorktown, VA; and Michael (Sharon) Hartel of Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Hull, Thomas (Wiebke) Hartel, Karrie (Steven) Lukasavich, Melanie (Matthew) Keith, Michael Hartel, Kevin Hartel and Christopher (Amy) Hartel, and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorthea Goldstein and LeeAnn Enzinna and two brothers, Frank (Carolyn) Enzinna and Samuel (Karen) Enzinna; and her devoted friends, "The Girls." Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St., (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 AM in Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St., in Tonawanda, by the Rev. Jeremy Lopez. Friends invited. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ or to the SPCA of Erie County.
