The Tonawanda News

When it comes to Republicans and Democrats, you need to see the big picture. They are like professional wrestlers. They go into the ring and beat each other up. After, they go out and wine and dine each other and they are good friends. All we have left are the haves and have-nots. The gap will only get greater and greater.

It’s a sad day when the rest of the world is moving toward democracy and we are moving closer to communism, socialism and fascism. We control the banks, manufacturing and soon health care. I’m hoping that those who voted for that are happy.

As a volunteer I know that if you’re not part of or associated with the ruling family of the volunteer department you can consider yourself a nobody. Anyway, to respond to the statement of the volunteers thinking that they run the department: This is not true, we have a few “super-vollys” that feel they are the best thing to ever have happened to the city’s fire department, and they give the rest of us a bad name.

Tuesday evening, my husband was discharged from the hospital and a hospital bed was ordered from a homecare place in Tonawanda. It was never delivered and when I called them at 10 p.m. I was told no cash no bed, delivery will only be done by COD. How can those people be in business? Who has a bundle of money laying around the house just in case you need to pay in cash?

To the person who told the people who don’t like the concert noise to move. I live up by Two Mile Creek. The music is so loud, I have my windows closed, my TV running and I can still hear the music. Don’t tell me to move! I have lived in Tonawanda for more than 50 years. It’s about time for city officials to tell the bands to turn it down. I can’t see how they expect to sell the condos on Sweeney Street when the music is so loud I can take my hearing aid out and still hear it. It’s about time this city did something for the people who pay taxes. Turn it down, period!

To lower property taxes in New York state, they should make cities, towns and villages merge into one government. For example, the City of Tonawanda, Town and Kenmore could be one government. You would need a lot less people, at the top especially. There would be one supervisor, one judge, one police chief, one fire chief, one DPW head. You could go on and on. Yes, they need assistants but you would still save millions on salaries and retirements.
