The Tonawanda News

Here goes Governor Paterson, pick-pocketing us again, for $25 for plates. I have brand new cars, two of them, and they both have new plates. I don’t need new plates. Now I have to pony up $50. I think it’s time for me to sell my six houses I own in New York state, and move to another state that’s a little bit more forgiving. New York state is just spending out of control, and they need to look for cuts. When you have a financial crisis in your family, you look and see what you can cut. That’s what New York state needs to do, and we need to fire Governor Paterson, time to hire a new governor.

This is a response to the complaint someone lodged against teachers getting a raise even though the unemployment rates are high. I am really tired of people who choose not to get a college education resenting those of us who work really hard to get one. Instead of complaining why don’t you enroll part-time at a community college and pursue a career that you find more rewarding instead of putting down those of us who are making a difference in the world.

Tonawanda AD Dawn Bak leaving the district is a good thing. The board doing their best to fill the position Bak did should be pretty easy since she didn't do much. Soccer was not the only problem. It was every sport in our school that she did not respond to.

Now that Tonawanda is looking for another athletic director why don't they hire Coach Santorio away from Grand Island and make him a Teacher on Special Assignment as the AD/Football Coach? Let's face it, we need a football coach and why not hire a real successful one? It seems like his teams are always in the hunt for a sectional championship. We could have a proper burial for the double wing offense. Most importantly, more students would be involved in athletics with a successful, respected coach. He's learned under two THS greats, Gene Masters and Jon Roth.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping those who can't help themselves but enough is enough. After the free cash, free food, free cell phones, payment of utilities through HEAP, the cash bonanza for school supplies, our governor is now thinking of giving cash to those on welfare for Christmas through the stimulus funds. This is no joke. The poor are helped through charities, firefighters and such, and the middle class families breaking their backs to keep a roof over their families heads get nothing. We need to stand up and say we have had enough of the free giveaways. We need to tell our legislators and governor and congressmen we have had enough and if they don't do something about the handouts it will show in the voting booths next year.
