n WARRANT: Fernando J. Pena, 282 Tremont St., North Tonawanda, surrendered Tuesday on a warrant for an original offense of driving while intoxicated on Sept. 16, 2007. Pena was held for court.
n WARRANT: Rian C. Sweeney, 16, 35 Delaware St., lower apartment, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for an original offense of harassment on April 30. Sweeney was released on an appearance ticket.
n WARRANT: Keri R. Voelker, 17, 260 Morgan St., Apt. B, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for an original offense of harassment on April 30. Voelker was released on an appearance ticket.
North Tonawanda
n WARRANT: Rachael O’Neil, 38, 880 Porter Road, Franklinville, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for an original offense of issuing a bad check ,Jan. 17, 2006. O’Neil is being held in lieu of $150 bail.
Kenmore
n WARRANT: Calvin C. Laster, also known as “Deshawn E. Morgan,” 23, 465 Utica St., Buffalo, was arrested Friday on a warrant for original offenses of felony assault and false impersonation on Sept. 2, 2007. Laster is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
n WARRANT: Thomas A. Merk, 19, 253 Commonwealth Ave., Buffalo, was arrested Friday on a warrant for an original offense of driving with suspended registration on Dec. 28, 2007. Merk was released on his own recognizance.
n WARRANT: Daniel E. Dubuque, 30, 647 Englewood Ave. Apt. 3, was arrested Friday on a warrant for an original offense of driving with suspended registration on July 11, 2007. Dubuque was released on his own recognizance.
n WARRANT: Wanda Calhoun, 45, 140 Rounds Ave., Buffalo, surrendered April 30 on a warrant for an original offense of petit larceny on April 24. Calhoun was released on an appearance ticket.
Town of Tonawanda
n CHARGED: Hattie R. Smith, 47, of Cuba, N.Y., was charged at 1:32 p.m. Tuesday with petit larceny. The credit card Smith used to purchase beer and a T-shirt with playing card logos on it was denied at an area store, according to police reports. Smith put the shirt on during the transaction and refused to take it off once the card was declined.
Police advised Smith that she would have to remove the shirt or go to jail, to which she allegedly replied, “Then I guess I’m going to jail because I ain’t taking the shirt off.”
Smith was transported to the police station, where police had to forcibly remove the shirt from her.
n IDENTITY THEFT: A 32-year-old town woman reported to police that someone used her personal information to file a federal tax return for $3,600. The woman’s husband discovered the identity theft when he checked on the Internet to find out when to expect the tax return, police reported. The refund check was sent to a New York address. The Internal Revenue Service is investigating the incident.
n THEFT: A 44-year-old town resident reported to police that someone used her credit card to pile up $539.73 in charges on True.com, an Internet dating Web site, between September 2007 and this month, police reported.
Wheatfield
n MENACING: Two 16-year-olds sitting on a porch on Duero Drive told police Tuesday night that a white man in his 20s, driving a green pickup with a white or gray stripe along the side, pulled into the driveway. The teens said the man rolled down the passenger-side window and pointed a gun at them. When they went inside to call 911, the man parked outside for about five minutes before driving away south on Williams Road, the teens said. Deputies checked the area but did not find a pickup matching that description. The area was checked throughout the night, the report said.
n CONTEMPT: Jeffrey S. Walker, 44, 138 Sixth St., North Tonawanda, was charged Monday with second-degree criminal contempt. Deputies stopped in Oppenheim Park to investigate a car parked there after dark. Walker, the driver, told police he and his passenger, a North Tonawanda woman, were dishing. The woman appeared to be intoxicated, the report said. A database check reportedly found the woman had an order of protection against Walker. The woman was picked up by a family member, and Walker was remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 bail. He is due May 15 in Wheatfield Town Court.
n LARCENY: A Meadowbrook Acres woman reported Tuesday that overnight, someone entered her car and stole an iPod, two cell phones, an MP3 player, $27 in cash and a wallet, together worth $631.
