The Tonawanda News

Man cleared in incident involving 9-year-old girl

CITY OF TONAWANDA — A Tonawanda man was cleared of alleged wrongdoing in a case reported last weekend involving a juvenile.

The father of a 9-year-old girl told police Stanley F. Wegrzyn had tried to solicit his daughter’s help in finding his dog Saturday.

Wegrzyn, 73, came forward to say he was “upset” after seeing a television news report stemming from the complaint.

Officers deemed Wegrzyn was indeed searching for his pet Saturday on Rodgers Avenue when he drove up beside the girl and asked her if she had seen the missing animal.

After a brief investigation by City of Tonawanda Police, it was discovered that authorities had on several occasions assisted the man in finding his dog.

Wegrzyn does not face charges.
