Robbery attempt thwarted

An employee of a convenience store on the 6800 block of Plaza Drive reported that a man tried to rob the store about 11:55 p.m. Thursday night.

The employee said she was outside smoking and noticed a suspicious shadow on the west side of the store so went inside to call 911. While on the phone with a dispatcher, a man with a grey cloth covering his face, with a hat and black hoodie on, walked into the store with a closed pocket knife and demanded money. The clerk told him no, as she was on the phone with dispatchers, and the man tried to open two different cash registers before fleeing the store empty-handed.

A Lewiston police K-9 was called in but lost the suspect’s tracks at Jagow Road.
