The Tonawanda News
Tonawanda News — To the person on Sound Off complaining about Cuomo wishing to enact a plan to deter teens from texting while driving. You want to contact the governor, all you have to do is search Gov. Cuomo and go to the governor.ny site and click contact, it is that simple. I think suspending licenses is very small compared to the danger that texting causes. I think jail time and a huge fine would be appropriate.
To all of you people complaining about red traffic light cameras with your statistics about the increase in accidents. The increase in rear-end accidents is probably not an accident increase at all. If both drivers had been able to speed through the red light intersection, the second one was far enough behind that he would have been T-boned. Damage to the front end of a car is not as bad as being T-boned by a driver from his right or left side. After drivers get used to the possibility of fines, all drivers will begin to slow down and be more cautious at traffic lights. We could use a few of the cameras at North Tonawanda’s traffic lights and stop signs.
Get ready Wheatfield residents. Looks like the school budget has to be defeated again. Let’s all get on the band wagon. Enough is enough. What are they doing? Got a raise and reinstated a lot of programs. Buying new buses. Let’s get the message out strong this time, let teachers pay for their medical just like we do. Don’t be fooled by the crying of getting rid of programs, they cry and still can’t make it. Time for us to speak up and vote it down.
So now we have to bash an assistant city attorney because she used to work for Senator Maziarz? The senator is very successful and has been for some time. That is because he surrounds himself with good people willing to work. We should be thankful we have someone with that work ethic. The city attorney is elected. He spends most of his time working to get re-elected which means he doesn’t really do any attorney work. The assistant handles all the legal questions in the city. He knows this so this is why he hired the best. She’ll be good for the city, let her do her job.
I attended the Common Council meeting last night and was impressed by the questions asked by council people Gilbert, Koch, Hall, and Smilinich about Redflex. Koch asked about the reputation and lawsuits of the company and Smilinich asked why here? I have not spoken to one person in our city who would support this. I have started to get involved with city politics and one thing I notice, Mayor Davis sure talks and walks a lot like the former mayor. I voted for change and all I see is the same old song and dance.
