Sabres to welcome Marriott to HARBORCenter

Tonawanda News — BUFFALO — The $170 million hockey-themed entertainment complex being built by the Buffalo Sabres will include a Marriott hotel.

HarborCenter President John Koelmel announced an agreement with Marriott International and Shaner Hotels on Wednesday. Shaner will operate the full-service Marriott franchise.

The 205-room hotel will be part of a complex being developed by Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula directly across from the First Niagara Center, where the Sabres play. In addition to the hotel, the project will have two ice rinks, dining and retail space and a parking garage.

HarborCenter is scheduled to open in fall of 2014, with the hotel to be completed the following spring.
