SOUND OFF: Published May 15

Three cheers for Dennis Pasiak, our first ward alderman. He promised everyone at the last Council meeting that he would give us a discount on our water bill if we paid on time. A promise is a promise. I expect to see his plan implemented on my next water bill. In this era of politicians who just talk and never deliver this is very refreshing to hear such a promise. Thank you in advance Dennis.

This is in regards to the North Tonawanda School District cutting the studio in art program. I believe that cutting that program is bad for the students who enjoy art classes and feel that studio in art is their best subject. The seventh grade students who signed up for studio in art will no longer be able to participate in such a wonderful program such as studio in art. This program is a great way to help students improve their artwork and art techniques. Although I was not able to participate in such a wonderful program I regret the fact, that while I am attending North Tonawanda High School I will no longer be able to take this program. I truly believe the school board has messed up again by taking away something students enjoy doing. It’s such a huge loss for a small gain.

I live on Oliver Street and am constantly appalled at the behavior exhibited by the young “citizens” of this city. Cars blasting music at unacceptable levels up and down the street at all hours of the day and night, groups of teenagers (and younger) literally screaming obscenities as they walk along, and more. I have two questions regarding this; first, where are these parents? Some of these kids are wandering around into the early morning hours. Don’t their absentee parents know or care where they are? Secondly, why are there never any police on Oliver Street? I sit on my porch (when I’m not driven inside by the above mentioned behaviors) sometimes for hours at a time and never see a cop car. The quality of life in this city is deteriorating rapidly and no one seems willing to do anything about it. The decent people are slowly being driven out. All you will have left is the “trash” that fills the sidewalks now.

Dear Hillary lover on May 2, I am sorry to inform you but Hillary is a liar. She didn’t do a whole lot for Western New York. Where are the 250,000 jobs she promised us? She never promoted Western New York. Hillary might have experience and she’s proved with her experience that she is, in fact, all talk. It has nothing to do with being sexist. I’m a female and I’m voting for Obama. He might be less experienced but he’s less of a risk than Hillary.

I would agree to erect a monument at Gratwick Park to our county legislators only if the inscription said. "Andrea McNulty, Paul Wojtaszek and Peter Smolinski, they achieved what no other legislature has done. We are the highest taxed county, NT gets almost nothing from the county including this Gratwick Park which came from the Power Authority money not the county and we are the most corrupt county in the nation" Yes, now there is an inscription that truly "honors" what is going on.

Whatever happened to the City of Tonawanda graffiti vandals? Last I heard they were due back in court in April. I would like to know when they are going to start cleaning up their mess. The warm weather is here and we are spending more time in our back yard. I wish we didn't have to look at the mess on the back of Global Logistics.

I would like to say how appalled I was to see the school playground equipment written all over. I would like to say if you're a mother of teenage girls or boys in the Mullen School area then you need to take a walk over there and take a look at what is being slandered about the young ladies in our neighborhood. The pornographic pictures are disgusting and then to top it off they have the great idea to leave names to be proud of. If they're that smart to have that wonderful spelling skills in the language that was left behind then why didn't they just leave an address and phone number where they could be contacted so they could come back and clean this filth up along with the prophylactic wrappers that are all over the ground now that the parents can see your children's name up there. Maybe you can scrub it off the play set because I don't think the school should have to do it or the city.
