Another election is upon us. As citizens, it is important we take a good, long look at the candidates and make an informed, intelligent decision. We are deciding the course of North Tonawanda for the next few years. This is too important to waste. Attend the “meet the candidates” night at the high school next Wednesday. And when looking at a candidate, take note of those who are managing his campaign. These people will be involved should that candidate be elected. It’s not just one guy but his team you are voting for. Vote for the best person, not just along party lines. None of us can afford not to do this.

Talk about bending over for the developers ... after reading Neale Gulley's article about the Oct. 20 North Tonawanda common council meeting, I was outraged that not only are city officials willing to spend taxpayer money on a DEC lawsuit that developers should be footing the bill for, but they're also proposing a tax exemption for converting non-residential property to mixed use (like the buildings on Oliver Street). I see lots of money going out and not much coming in.

T-NT week is a week to be celebrated! It was chock full of activities of all kinds. Did anyone notice that the superintendent of North Tonawanda schools was absent from it all! Vecchiarella could not find the time to celebrate a tradition of the district he runs? How dare he have so little regard for the students and our community! This community has tolerated a lot from this man, only to be completely snubbed. His contract is done in September. It better not be renewed or extended.
