Tonawanda News — The concerts at Gratwick Park are great. Thank you Mayor Ortt. You must be bringing in lots of money from the collected park rental fee, the city’s share of parking revenue and the percentage of concession sales. I hope this revenue from the free concerts pays for the overtime for the parks department, the DPW, police and fire departments. I have yet to see what these expenses are and how they are paid. Are they in the city’s budget? I hear free concerts to the public but are they free concerts to the city? Since this is an election year, I wonder about donation amounts directed your way through the concert promoter. Lots of questions. No answers. How about giving some details at one of your speedy council meetings?

To the caller who was concerned about Canal Fest food workers handling money and food while wearing gloves. According to NYSDOH (New York State Dept. of Health) this is allowed.

I love how the public fails to recognize the real heroes in a time of emergency. For example, Mr. Needler acknowledged that NT Fire and Police basically saved his life, when in fact the true unrecognized heroes were and always are the paramedics from Twin City Ambulance.

We wouldn’t need generators the night of the Friday night storm if some common sense was used. The power went off about 10:40 pm and the generator and pump weren’t put in place at Ward and Payne until 3 am. Why? Common sense says that when the power goes off during heavy rains you bring people in and get the job done pronto! Thanks for costing me money!

I have to wonder if there is any intelligent life left in the Tonawandas?

Don’t any elected officials or the head of the Public Works Department drive on Oliver Street? Why aren’t the dreadful sections of that repaired or replaced? It’s like driving on a washboard.
